The I Ching (Yi Jing) is an amazing oracular system developed in Ancient China more than 5,000 years ago. It continues to have relevance up until this day. It was first developed by an intensely Spiritual Man by the name of Fu Shi who's ethnicity harkens back to according to some Africa in some reports... In fact, there is a strong correlation between the I Ching and the Ifa system of Nigeria, West Africa.
64 Hexagrams X 63 =
4,032(1to 6 Changing Lines)
There are even more variations when you consider the subsequent questions that you may ask in order to gain "Deeper clarity." That would be something like 64 X 63 X 64 X 63=
This series of
videos will be to explain in depth what a "Life Path Reading" is. It
has been commonly termed by some as "Incarnation Objective."
A Life Path Reading
is essentially one of the most important readings that can be done. It is
similar to an astrology reading only I use the I Ching. It helps to determine
what challenges, triumphs, skills, talents, and deficits an individual may
have.
While some folks
deeply believe in re-incarnation, my belief is that we have come here for a
specific purpose and not necessarily to work out all that we didn't work out in
the past incarnation, that we can barely remember, btw. Imagine going to school
to take a test that you barely remember studying for?
LESSON 8, PART 1
I give full Life
Path Readings upon request.
You can refer to
this reading, from the day you receive it until the day you are finished with
this incarnation.
Please feel free to
leave your comments, questions and concerns in the comment section under this
video on my channel. For readings contact me: nanabaakan@gmail.com to set up an appointment.
Thank you for taking
this journey with me into "Understanding the I Ching."
LESSON 8, PART 2
Let me add here,
that there are still various cultural indicators surrounding the birth of a
child that can still be seen in practice today.
Many of them have
religious rituals and ceremonies attached to them and can be observed in the
form of Naming Ceremonies, Christening, Confirmations, and even circumcision as
a type of Rites of Passage, or entry of the child into the Physical world. Names
are often given to represent a relative, saint (deity) or historical figure.
Again, without
getting a Life Path reading then it is possible that the name does not depict
the actual path of the child. On the other hand, when a reading is done, it can
determine more succinctly the direction the soul is traveling and thus gives
the individual a strong guage to measure his/her progress as they mature.
LESSON 8, PART 3

Thank you for taking this journey with me into "Understanding the I Ching."
Greetings, Peace and
blessings to you, your family and loved ones.
My name is Nana Baakan and today I wish to share with you the I Ching
Oracle reading I received on March 19, 2020 concerning the Coronavirus aka Covid-19.
As is my usual
practice, that when there is something so confusing, so distorted, with so many
varying opinions on what is going on, I resort to consulting the I Ching, (Yi
Jing) for a better insight into what is really going on. I have trusted and continue to trust the
wisdom of the Yi. It has a sobering
effect on issues that may seem to be overwhelming to us and gives us guidance
on how to stay centered and in the middle, avoiding extremes.
The questions I
asked may appear even more cryptic than the Oracle itself at times, but, we
must remember that there is science to asking the Yi Jing questions.
You must first approach it with an open mind
and willingness to allow it to give you guidance. Therefore I take great pains in making my
questions as free of bias as possible.
Otherwise the Oracle will respond to your bias and that can often be
confusing.
I have been working
and studying the Yi Jing for over 30 years now, I have seen it unfold in many
situations as I have worked with hundreds of people along the way.
I also offer
tutorial sessions and online workshops for those who may be interested.
Feel free to use
these questions for your own exploration.
And be sure to push that like button and subscribe to my channel.
Let me add this as
well, if you are not given to divination, and have a problem with anyone who
may be doing it, please just move along.
You do not have to watch this video, nor do you need to stop by and
leave a disparaging comment. Thank you
so much for all those who take the time to watch this video, I hope you are
able to gain some clarity about this current event. If you have other questions about this event
feel free to send them to me. Thanks
again.

We are back and we
are moving forward with our 8th series of I Ching (Yi Jing) Workshops
Online. We took a little break to gain
more momentum and now we are ready to dive into learning more and more about
the I Ching (Yi Jing).
Anyone who is
interested in learning more about the I Ching (Yi Jing) and its application in
your daily lives is welcomed to attend.
I call the Yi a Pocket counselor because its main goal is to provide
guidance for our everyday affairs, from simple situations to major ones.
The Yi Jing is one
of the most incorruptible oracle systems that you can use.
It has been around
for over 5 thousand years and harkens back to ancient China.
The concepts of
Yin/Yang, the Tao, Tai Chi, Kung fu martial arts, etc incorporates its
principles.
In our workshops we
work with the Classical version of the Yi Jing, while we do not speak Mandarin
or any ancient Chinese languages, we have found that the Yi Jing continues to
guide us. This is partly due to our desire
to receive the guidance of the Yi Jing and the Yi Is quite receptive to helping
us.
A few decades ago,
the guidance from the Yi Jing was only available to a few. Finding a book that made any sense was nearly
impossible. Anyone who has reviewed the Wilhelm/Baynes version or Leggie
version of the Yi Jing can attest that you basically had to put that book under
your pillow at night and absorb the guidance through osmosis.
Today, there is a
plethora of books and in many languages so the guidance is now available to
many more.
I have worked with
individuals from all over the globe who have been using the Yi Jing. So I can
attest that it is certainly becoming more and more popular and available.
There are many
variations on the theme as it relates to what each of these many books have to
offer in their interpretation of what the Yi Jing hexagrams are telling us.
I, personally have
several books, but in my workshops, I will be focusing the most on these two.
The I Ching Book of Changes by Wilhelm/Baynes and the I Ching Workbook by RL
Wing.
You may have other
books that you reference, and that's fine. However, in my workshops we will be
studying from these two, so it would be good to get your copies before you come
to the workshops. BTW, the workshops will
be online, so even if you don't have the books to begin with, we will be able
to share our books with you.
The workshop series
lasts for 6 weeks and we will meet once a week on Sundays.
Since I am in
contact with folks from around the globe, we will make adjustments for time
zones.
I will host 3
workshops…
Beginners 101 12PM EST
Beginners 102 3PM EST
Intermediate 6PM EST
If you are not sure
which one you should attend, come to the Beginners 101 for starters, we will
look at your skill level and make a determination from there. Also, if you have
not been using the Yi Jing regularly for at least 5 years, you probably should
come to the Beginners 102. The
intermediate is very challenging. I do not give tests, but I do expect you to
be quite proficient with the Yi Jing, how to use it, what the hexagrams are,
what they mean and a keen idea on how to adapt them to the questions you ask if you come to the Intermediate classes.
One of the key
points that you will learn in my workshops is how to ask the question. It is so
important to ask questions in such a way that you can understand the answer you
get from the Yi Jing. Many times folks ask questions and end up scratching their
heads wondering what did the Oracle just say to them. In reality, it takes a
certain skill to get those questions formulated in such a way that will lessen
the confusion. You will learn that in my
workshops.
I ask for a love
offering of $75 for the entire series of workshops paid in advance.
You may also pay
$15/workshop if you so desire. Whatever works best for you.
If you do not have
PayPal, then I can send you an invoice, but I will need to send the invoice for
the entire fee of $75. PayPal takes a percentage of my income, so it would be
more financially feasible to invoice just once. You can also use the buttons below to register. Here you have a variety of options for payment as well.
I also have Square
Cash for anyone who would like to use that option, but the same procedure will
apply because, like PayPal, they take a percentage.
In the blog, the
links will be there, so you will be able to pay directly from the blog post.
Registration
is now open. Anyone can attend.
Workshop registrants
need to add up to at least 5 people per workshop.
If fewer than five
people sign up per workshop, the workshop will be postpone to the next series,
and all payments will be refunded.
There is the option
for private lessons in the event a workshop is closed. We can discuss the
arrangements for that privately.
I ask that everyone
who signs up commits to at least 3 classes.
While the Yi Jing is a wonderful oracle system, it has its complexities
and therefore commitment to learning is very important. It is preferable that you
attend all 6 classes in order to get the full scope of the material presented.
Please consider
these workshops in the same manner you would consider going to college or a
university. If you pay for a class but you do not attend, I will not be able to
make any refunds. Time and energy goes into preparing for the classes so you
must be responsible for attending the classes you paid for.
After the 2nd week
the Beginners 102 and Intermediate classes will close. Beginners 101 will
remain open so anyone wanting to join will be added to the Beginners 101.
I do not give
quizzes, however I am inclined to
acknowledge your participation by giving you a certificate of completion but
you must attend all classes in the series in order to receive it. The
certificate will give a general description of your mastery of the material
presented in the workshop.
Everyone who attends
the workshops will be given a link to Google Drive where I keep all materials
and videos from the workshop series.
Feel free to go there and explore the materials between our meetings.
You may also download anything that you wish.
PLEASE NOTE
I AM NO LONGER USING SKYPE FOR VIDEO CONFERENCING.
I HAVE MOVED TO ZOOM Go to this link (http://www.ZOOM.us) and download the app to your phone, tablet and/or computer.
Once you have registered, I will add you to the list of
participants for your class and send you an email.
The email will contain a link and all the
details you need to join the class.
Love Offering:
$15 per class, $75 for entire series.
Initial
Workshop-sessions will be hosted via
Eastern Standard Time… I also offer private lessons. Contact me if this is an option you prefer.

Please note that I
use the I Ching (Yi Jing) 5000 year old Oracle System from China. I have worked
with clients from around the globe; some countries including Australia, Haiti,
Spain, Germany, Russia, Ghana, Brazil, UK, Nigeria, France, Slovakia, Turkey,
Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Senegal, Liberia, India, Namibia and all
over the US.
I approach
consulting the I Ching from my unique perspective that I have developed over
30+ years of using it and 20+ years of giving thousands of consultations. To be sure, it is different. My students
benefit from this approach and to me, that is the most rewarding. I am also
able to couple my knowledge and experience as a Mental Health Professional,
combining what I have learned about Mental Health into the readings. I see the I Ching (Yi Jing) as a pocket
counselor that offers you guidance in the situations you ask it about. My goal
as an educator is to help my students gain access to their Inner Knowing in the
most profound way. To me, the best way
to do that, is to ask questions that will give them answers that make
sense. It's challenging, and we work
hard but the reward is immeasurable.
When consulting the
I Ching, it is always best to ask a general question. This general questions
opens the conversation between you and the I Ching Oracle. But, like any sage, the I Ching will address
your question with a parable that may or may not be understood in real time.
Therefore, I strongly encourage my students to go a bit further and develop
their conversation with the Oracle by asking supportive questions and/or more
questions about the details in the situation.
There are no quick
fixes with the I Ching. Remember you are communicating with a Sage, that is,
the Inner Knowing, the Inner Wisdom, that is within you but you may not be able
to reach directly which is why you are using the Oracle.
The initial general
question would be. Please comment on…..
Example: Please
comment on me working at the University of PA in the capacity of an Adjunct
professor.
That's the general
questions and this opens the conversation.
In most cases folks
have already made up their minds to take a certain job, start a certain
business, pursue a certain career, attend a certain institution of higher
learning, marry a certain person. These
decisions are made BEFORE consulting the
I Ching and particularly in the societal construct where asking the Oracle for
advise seldom takes place.
In Ancient times,
serious decisions about participating in activities that would strongly impact
on your life, would be preceded by a consultation with the elders. This process
has gone by the way side with the advent of "individualism" and the
so called "freedom of choice." However, in making these decisions we
may not realize that we are entering an arena where several other "choices
and decisions" have already been made that may impact on how one is able
to navigate through the situation. The I
Ching responses are predicated on its desire to counsel and guide you in the
situations you come upon. The Tao, or
the mean, or the balance is fundamental to its counsel. It will advise you on
how to accomplish this in your pursuits and activities. It will modify your
extremes and challenge your biases. It is there as a personal development
tool. Therefore it will communicate with
you in a unique way as you are on your own unique journey through life.
So, in the instance
of wanting to teach at a particular university, what must be taken into account
is the institution itself. Mind you, it is a business and has its own operating
procedures. Other particulars will include
but are not exclusive to: job interview, department, the student body, the work
load, the co-workers, the staff, the salary, the distance one may need to
travel, the work schedule, the benefits, the curriculum, etc., etc., etc.
When you ask a
general question all these things are considered when the Oracle responds. It
will encompass these topics and many more in the answer it gives.
What is most
helpful, I have found, is for the individual to continue to consult with more
specific questions about the details of a situation. Reflecting upon the
initial response from the Oracle, the additional questions about the details
make the initial response make more sense.
Using this method,
the Oracle will give its responses in the manner that will allow you to come to
your own conclusions about whether or not you want to take the position. It
will map it out for you in such a way that you will find yourself determining what
is the best course of action rather than you relying on the I Ching to tell you
to do this or that. If in doubt, your FINAL question would be to ask.
"Please comment
on the advisability of me taking this job."
Everything is
energy. There are seen and mostly unseen
forces at play in any situation. Having this conversation with the Oracle gives
you a bird's eye view of the situation you wish to enter and then you are able
to make an informed decision based on the merit that the Oracle has outlined
for you. Again, there are no quick
fixes. If you rush in an attempt to get an answer from the Oracle so you can
quickly go your way, the Oracle will communicate with you but it will do so in
such a way that you will have to slow down and take your time to even begin to
understand what it just said to you. Just like you would not rush into a room
full of elders and start barraging them with a host of questions, it is best to
be centered and calm when approaching the I Ching Oracle. So you collect yourself, clear your mind and
your schedule, sit down, write out your questions. The elders/Ancestors are asking you to
approach them respectfully, watch your manners and speak purposefully to the
Oracle.
Since we are talking
about taking a job at the University, let's take a look at the work
environment.
Please comment on
the nature of the work environment the University offers its employees.
This question will
give you some insight into how the University's administration interacts with
its staff overall.
To get more specific
you may want to ask:
Please comment on
the nature of the work environment the Department of Education at the
University of PA offers its employees.
This narrows it down
to the work place that you will be directly employed in.
You see…? Just looking at this situation could be the
turning point on your decision to take the job or not.
And there is much
more. A reading of this magnitude may take more than one sitting before you can
come to a conclusion as to whether or not you decide to take the position.
Remember, just because it is offered to you does not mean you are obligated to
take it!
I will be making
more videos on how to query the Oracle but for now, take a listen to one of my
students who discovers how important it is to ask about the details of a
situation.
